MAGS goes wild in Wales

5-6 August 2017 /North Wales GC and Conway GC

The Wales Trip, you will be pleased to know, passed by without any Police intervention or CSI incidents, we don’t appear to have been banned from returning to the hotel at some point in the future….and the golf and most of the weather while we were there was fine. Some big scores came in on both days from the traditional high handicappers. Rob Pratley had an amazing 40 points on the opening round and Ford Garrard came in with a 39 points on the second day to add to his 35 from the first day, to run out overall Tour winner with 74 points…..and a well-deserved 2 shot MAGS cut to his unofficial handicap in the future. A big thanks goes out to HonSec Ken for his organisation and to Bob Bolton for his rigorous application of the Rules of Golf, to which it appeared the HonSec didn’t think applied to him when the wrong balls were played….after a hissy fit, the stamping of feet and a few tears, they later kissed and made up and it all ended happily ever after!!

Bob Bolton

Bob is a long standing member of MAGS and spent many years as scribe as well as editor of the old website. On the rare occasion he’s not swimming, he enjoys playing golf in an aggression manner. He loves to rip driver as hard as possible (surprisingly straight) and he struggles on and around the greens… this may be the understatement of the year. The combination of long straight drives and dodgy short game evens out to make him a very dangerous mid handicap golfer.
